Having spent years travelling the globe, learning all about the wonderful world of pearls, our founder created and curated the perfect pieces for people to celebrate their time in Tenerife. In 1996 we opened the doors of our flagship store in Armenime, a true destination location overlooking La Gomera and the big blue Atlantic Ocean.Tenerife Perla was born, with plenty of room to offer pearls for every taste, style and budget.

The Tenerife Perla flagship has blossomed into becoming one of our island’s must-see destinations. A place where holidaymakers come to find the perfect piece to celebrate their time here and learn all about what makes their pearl special.

To this day we still work closely with our pearl farmers, allowing us access to the pick of each harvest, find new and exciting pearls and offer the best pearls at the best price. These trips to see pearl farmers around the world has shown us the importance of the natural environment to pearl farming.

Pearls are grown by oysters and mussels that are incredibly sensitive to pollution and so pearl farmers go to great lengths to protect the water around their farms. This creates oases of incredible natural beauty and marine biodiversity. But whilst pearl farming brings many environmental benefits, it’s under threat from climate change as rising sea temperatures threaten the survival of the molluscs that grow pearls.

We therefore work with Natural Capital Partners to offset the carbon footprint of our pearls, jewellery, and packaging – creating the world’s only CarbonNeutral® pearl jewellery. This work has involved us supporting the development of hydro-electric facilities in China (near Freshwater pearl farms) as well as the protection of areas of Borneo from deforestation.

Communicating this link between the environment and pearl farming is close to our hearts, and as a family business, so is the health of our local community which is why we’re proud to have supported a number of Tenerifean charities over the years
